My little girl can walk!

She’s been working up to this for quite a long time, as is her way – she likes to size things up and work them out rather than launching herself into them.

Over the last week or so she has grown noticeably in speed and confidence at walking holding my hand, and at cruising round the furniture. She has also abandoned crawling nearly altogether – instead, she has been “walking” around on her knees. In the last few days she has taken the occasional step by herself – taking one foot off the ground without actually holding onto anything with either hand. And today, she has taken lots of little steps all by herself.

The best was this evening at a friends house outside. She stood up and walked very carefully across the decking to some stone ducks that she likes to pat. When she had patted them, she stood back up and walked very carefully back to mummy. About 7 or 8 steps each way.

It’s silly to be overwhelmed about a baby learning to walk. I mean pretty much all babies learn to walk at some point, and most a good deal earlier than Baby M. But overwhelmed I am.

I love her so. I don’t mind being silly over her.

Awww.
